Sports Ed - Our Alternative Education Programme for 14-16 year olds

Nacro Community Sports Project provides a 4-day alternative education programme in conjunction with Chelmsford College.  Sports Ed provides 14-16 year olds that have fallen out of mainstream education or are at risk of permanent exclusion, with an opportunity to gain various sports awards and other accreditations before entering adulthood.

The course is delivered at Chelmsford Sports and Athletics Centre and is designed to suit the groups needs and builds on the individuals self confidence, self esteem, tolerance of others and health and fitness.  It provides an open and supportive environment where young people are helped to identify and address other issues they may be facing.

As well as those highlighted above, each young person can expect to gain the following from this course;

     - Skills and qualities required to be an effective and efficient leader, which can be transferred to any environment

     - Potential to gain other work-related experience, voluntary or paid

     - Improvement of social skills/personal development, especially as these skills may have suffered whilst in mainstream school

     - Sense of achievement

     - Diversion from crime and anti-social behaviour in their communities

     - The experience of new, positive, sporting activities

     - The opportunity of planning, performing and evaluating their own events

The awards and accreditations on offer as part of this course are;
